After an awe inspiring talk about how Jeremy Scott spent two and a half years cycling from the UK to NZ there was a mad rush of Devonport Rotarians to purchase copies of Jeremy’s book. “The Long Road from a Broken Heart” is a beautifully presented collection of stunningly beautiful photos and tells the tales of this courageous journey.

Jeremy was born with a hole in his heart which was repaired at the age of 4 by Sir Brian Barret-Boyes.  Almost 30 years later and after  7 years of planning Jeremy set off on this daunting trip with virtually no experience of cycling. By his own admission he was terrified by the thought of what lay ahead of him but with every challenge he learned to overcome his fears and gain confidence in his ability to overcome whatever came his way on the journey.

Jeremy’s journey raised over $30,000 for the NZ, Australian and British Heart Foundation and he continues to support the foundation with a donation made from each book he sells.

Jeremy has been one of the very best speakers to present at our club and we would highly recommend him as an excellent motivational speaker.
